1. Annual General Meeting – 4 April 2004

The A.G.M. was held at the Polish Catholic Centre, Kedleston Road, Derby. Warta Sports Club hosted the membership to lunch before commencing discussions.

The A.G.M. commenced with a minute’s silence for colleagues who had passed on. Particularly remembered were Edwin Gitrowski an ex-Chairman of both the ZPKS and Warta S.C. in Derby and Aleks Kreft a long-standing Committee member and chairman of Pogon S.C.  in Birmingham. It is difficult to accept that they both attended the last A.G.M.

The proposed agenda and minutes of the last A.G.M. were accepted and were followed by reports from the Chairman Ryszard Ślusarenko, Secretary Tadeusz Stenzel and Treasurer Piotr Cejer. After discussion these were accepted and a unanimous vote of Absolutorium was made at the proposal of Mrs. Barbara Orłowska, Chair of the Internal Audit Committee.

It was noted in these reports that the most successful undertaking last year was the football competition a Polish Association in Slough. The Committee was particularly grateful for the excellent cooperation with the P.A. in Slough with its Chairman Edward Jaśnikowski at the helm. The Committee also extended its thanks to the ladies who prepared an excellent BBQ and fed the players, referees and supporters.

The 2004 program of events was discussed and it was confirmed that we would organise Polish championships in football, volleyball and table tennis.

New ZPKS officers were elected as follows:

The limit on the 2004 budget was set at £1,000.

In other matters the AGM was reminded that the Polonia Olympics (ŚIP) are due to be held in Warsaw in 2005 and we should be thinking of organizing competitors and funding.

A proposal to hold a dance to raise funds was made and we a looking for a venue as „Polonium” band from Sheffield have given us a very enticing offer.

Piotr Kaptur and Alan Maćkowiak gave a brief review of ŚIP 2003 that was held last summer at the „Malta” Sports Centre in Poznan. Some thirty UK competitors participated and we won several medals including three gold. Nearly 800 people from all over the World took part and the events were transmitted daily by TV Polonia. Piotr Kaptur also participated in the winter Polonia Game sin Świerku in February 2004. He was saddened by the low turnout from the UK amongst over 300 who participated in a very pleasant and friendly international event.
